Dragonflies

The dragonfly goes from egg to larva in water.  Once the dragonfly eggs hatch, the life cycle of a dragonfly larva begins as a nymph.  Once the nymph is fully grown, and the weather is right, it will complete the metamorphosis into a dragonfly by crawling out of the water up the stem of a plant.
These photos were all shot in Florida, on the beach and at various inland locations.

New Collection of Shore Birds
There are several species of shorebirds that nest along the beaches of the Atlantic and Gulf coasts of Florida.  Lately we have been seeing ruddy turnstones, sanderlings, willets and a few turns and gulls.  With so many different species,  identification of these birds is rather difficult.  Many of these birds have different markings with plumage variation by season and age.  They are a fascinating subject to watch and photograph.
